Dive-site story
Located off the southern coast of Kos in the Dodecanese archipelago, this geothermal site features active volcanic vents on the seabed. Streams of sulfur and carbon dioxide bubbles continuously filter through fissures in the rock and sandy floor, heated by the nearby Nisyros volcanic system. The topography combines rocky volcanic slabs, patches of fine sand, and scattered boulders that shelter small Mediterranean fauna.
Continuous curtains of natural geothermal bubbles rising from the seafloor
Noticeable thermal gradients and warm water vents percolating through the sand
Photogenic volcanic seabed formations and porous lava rock structures
