Dive-site story
Located on the uninhabited islet of Ravnik near Vis, Zelena špilja (the Green Cave) is famed for a natural ceiling aperture that shoots a focused beam of sunlight directly into the water. When overhead sunlight hits the white sandy bottom and algae-covered walls, the chamber illuminates in radiant shades of emerald. Divers enter through wide, spacious arches that lead into a cavernous central dome. After exploring the interior chambers and rocky cracks, divers can venture outside onto the surrounding sloping reef and wall covered in Mediterranean sponges.
