Dive-site story
Resting upright in Pria Laot Bay off Pulau Weh, the Sophie Rickmers is a massive German steamship scuttled by her own crew in May 1940 to avoid capture by the Dutch. The imposing bow stands dramatically off the seabed, shrouded in deep-water soft corals and sea fans. Due to the extreme depth of the wreck deck and hull, this dive is strictly reserved for experienced deep specialty and technical divers using planned decompression profiles.
