Dive-site story
Located along the rugged western coastline of Ustica within the marine protected area, Punta Galera features an impressive volcanic seascape with dramatic drop-offs, boulders, and cavern formations. The highlight of the route is Grotta dei Gamberi, a deep cavern named for the massive colonies of narwal shrimp carpeting its shadowed ceiling and walls. Outside the cavern, rocky shelves transition into deep blue water frequented by pelagic hunters and territorial reef predators.
Thousands of reflective red narwal shrimp swarming the interior of the cavern
Dramatic volcanic drop-offs and large submerged boulders coated in encrusting sponges
Frequent encounters with large dusky groupers cruising along the rocky terraces
