Dive-site story
The Pelagosa was an armed steamship sunk by a torpedo during World War II off the coast of Nervi. The wreck rests upright on a silty seabed, with its bow, superstructure, and stern sections recognizable despite damage sustained during the sinking. Encrusting sponges, bryozoans, and hydroids blanket the metal hull, which provides shelter for deep-water Mediterranean marine species.
