Dive-site story
Located off the eastern tip of Tavolara Island within the marine protected area, Secca del Papa is one of the Mediterranean's premier deep pinnacle dives. The massive granite formation rises dramatically from the sandy seabed, creating a multi-tiered underwater mountain with sheer vertical drops and deep crevices. Dense forests of red gorgonians blanket the deeper walls, thriving in the nutrient-rich currents that wash around the rock.
Extensive vertical drop-offs coated in dense purple and red gorgonian sea fans
Resident population of exceptionally large dusky groupers displaying little fear of divers
Schools of pelagic predators patrolling the pinnacle crest in open water
