Dive-site story
Located off the rugged cliffs of the Portofino Marine Protected Area, Secca Gonzatti is an offshore rocky pinnacle named in memory of Dario Gonzatti, a pioneer of Italian underwater exploration. The pinnacle rises from deep waters toward the surface, blanketed in red gorgonians and coralligenous formations. Schooling pelagics and resident predators patrol the drop-offs, making it a classic Mediterranean deep reef dive.
Extensive walls covered in red sea fans
Frequent encounters with large dusky groupers resting along the rock terraces
Schools of Mediterranean barracuda and hunting dentex cruising the blue water off the pinnacle edges
