Dive-site story
Carved into the limestone shoreline of western Gozo, this vertical sinkhole opens underwater through a natural archway directly into the Mediterranean Sea. Below the arch, the seafloor drops away over steep walls and massive tumbled boulders left behind by the collapsed Azure Window. Swells can produce noticeable surge in the opening, but clear conditions reveal dramatic light beams slicing down through the rocky shaft.
