Dive-site story
Kandooma Thila is a teardrop-shaped submerged pinnacle situated in the middle of a channel in South Malé Atoll. Because strong tidal currents sweep across the structure, it serves as a gathering point for pelagic species and massive schools of predatory fish. Divers typically drift down to the upcurrent corner, hook into the reef to watch the action in the blue, and then explore the soft coral-covered overhangs along the flanks.
Congregations of grey reef sharks and eagle rays cruising along the upcurrent point
Expansive cave overhangs lined with vibrant yellow, blue, and orange soft corals
Dense schools of bigeye trevally, barracuda, and red snappers hovering above the plateau
