Dive-site story
Located south of Playa del Carmen along the Riviera Maya highway, Cenote Chak Mol (often spelled Chac Mool) offers classic Yucatan cavern diving. Divers descend into freshwater cavern zones where massive speleothems, dense halocline layers, and piercing sunbeams meet. The site connects to two major cavern routes known as the Chak Mol line and the Kukulkan line, winding past collapsed ceiling blocks and into spacious air domes adorned with descending tree roots.
