Dive-site story
Cenote Yaal Utzil is an open-sinkhole cenote situated in the municipal area of Abalá in the state of Yucatán. Accessible by a wooden staircase descending down sheer limestone cliffs, the circular water body drops sharply into a cavernous shaft. Overhead sunlight creates intense vertical light beams that illuminate submerged rock formations, tree roots, and deep organic sediment along the perimeter.
