Dive-site story
Located off the northern edge of Mataking Island in the Celebes Sea, Humphead Point features a sloping coral reef that terraces downward over sandy patches into deeper water. The site is named for the humphead parrotfish and humphead wrasse that frequent this corner to graze on hard coral and crustaceans. Divers drift along coral formations past sea anemones, barrel sponges, and gorgonian fans while keeping an eye on the blue for cruising pelagics.
Regular sightings of bumphead parrotfish cruising the reef crest
Large green and hawksbill sea turtles feeding along the slope
