Dive-site story
San Choi Wreck, often referred to as the Fisherman Wrecks, consists of scuttled Vietnamese fishing trawlers resting upright on the sandy seabed off Pulau Perhentian. Over time, the hulls have become encrusted with soft corals and hydroids, transforming into an artificial oasis that gathers massive schools of fish. Divers typically navigate between the closely clustered wrecks while scanning the surrounding sand for bottom dwellers.
Schooling yellowtail snappers and trevally hovering around the superstructure
Juvenile and adult bamboo sharks sheltered beneath the broken hull sections
Frequent encounters with chevron barracuda patrolling the open water above the wreckage
Macro critters like nudibranchs, pipefish, and scorpionfish camouflaged on the rusted iron plates
