Dive-site story
Gasselterveld is a former sand extraction lake situated in the wooded landscape of Drenthe. Known locally for its striking turquoise hue and white sandy bed, the basin slopes sharply downward from the shoreline into deep, cold water. Submerged vegetation is sparse near the center, though fallen branches and shoreline margins shelter small communities of freshwater organisms.
