Dive sites in Peru

Located off the coastal fishing village of Pucusana south of Lima, El Chuncho is a rugged rocky islet swept by the nutrient-rich Humboldt Current. The underwater landscape features steep stone walls, boulder clusters, and crevices covered in kelp holdfasts, encrusting sponges, and dense colonies of sea anemones. Divers navigating the granite formations encounter typical temperate Pacific fauna, ranging from playful sea lions to camouflaged bottom dwellers resting on the rocky shelves.

Situated south of Lima, the waters around Pucusana serve as one of the primary scuba diving hubs along central Peru's coastline. Influenced directly by the nutrient-rich Humboldt Current, the cold-water ecosystem features rocky reefs, underwater caverns, and dense kelp forests teeming with temperate marine species.
