Dive-site story
Located southwest of Panglao, Balicasag Island is a protected marine sanctuary ringed by shallow reef flats that abruptly give way to sheer vertical walls and dramatic drop-offs. The outer edges of the reef are famous for a dense resident vortex of bigeye trevallies that swirls off the reef crest. Green sea turtles graze along the shallow coral pastures and rest on steep ledges overgrown with gorgonian sea fans and barrel sponges.
