Dive-site story
Sunk during the US air raid of September 1944 in Coron Bay, the Kogyo Maru was a Japanese freighter carrying construction materials for a runway. The massive vessel rests on its starboard side on the silty seabed. Divers can inspect the cargo hold still loaded with intact machinery like a bulldozer and tractor, alongside stacks of fossilized cement bags and coils of wire. Soft corals and encrusting sponges blanket the hull, attracting dense schools of fish that patrol the superstructure.
