Dive-site story
Situated directly off the coastal shelf of Caniço de Baixo within the Ponta de Oliveira area, Lavafinger Galo features a volcanic lava tongue that branches into the Atlantic. Divers navigate along cooled basalt ridges riddled with small fissures, overhangs, and natural swim-throughs before the formation slopes toward a sandy seabed. Due to its location along the protected coastal fringe, the site often provides calm conditions with exceptional visibility.
Pronounced volcanic lava ridge running perpendicular to the shoreline
Frequent encounters with resident dusky groupers resting near basalt overhangs
Sheltered conditions suitable for training and macro photography
