Dive-site story
Shaab Rumi South Plateau extends as an underwater ledge off the southern tip of the famous Shaab Rumi atoll. Swept by oceanic currents, this offshore formation acts as a major gathering point for pelagic predators in the Sudanese Red Sea. Divers typically drift over the plateau into the blue to watch resident schools of scalloped hammerheads and grey reef sharks before ascending along the coral-encrusted outer reef wall.
Schooling scalloped hammerhead sharks congregating at the edge of the plateau drop-off
Dense aggregations of pelagic species including chevron barracuda and bigeye trevally
Pristine soft coral growth and large gorgonian sea fans along the vertical plateau wall
