Dive-site story
Jutholmsvraket is the remarkably intact wooden hull of an armed merchant vessel dating from the late seventeenth century, resting upright on a silty seabed near Dalarö in the Stockholm archipelago. Because the brackish Baltic Sea lacks wood-boring shipworm, the heavy oak timbers, framing, deck beams, and transom remain intact. Divers navigate around the exposed cargo hold and preserved hull construction. Strong buoyancy control is mandatory here, as the fine sediment on the bottom easily clouds the water and the fragile historic timber must not be touched.
