Dive-site story
Located west of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, the archipelago of Mu Ko Ang Thong consists of dozens of dramatic limestone islands rising sharply from the Gulf of Thailand. Diving here focuses primarily around the northern boundary at Koh Yippon and Koh Wao, where submerged karst topography creates an intricate network of swim-throughs, undercut ledges, and cavernous overhangs. While water clarity tends to be lower than at offshore pinnacles due to coastal runoff, the nutrient-rich waters sustain expansive gardens of soft corals, massive barrel sponges, and dense schools of coastal fish.
Extensive labyrinth of shallow limestone swim-throughs and archways encrusted with colorful tunicates
Expansive black coral gardens and large sea fans covering shaded vertical rock faces
Frequent encounters with sheltering sea turtles and hunting yellowtail fusiliers among the boulders
