Dive-site story
Angthong National Marine Park spans an archipelago of limestone islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Diving centers on northern islets like Koh Yippon and Koh Wao, where karst topography drops beneath the surface into submerged overhangs, shallow caverns, and arches. Dense thickets of black coral bushes and sea whips cover these formations. Nutrient runoff from coastal bays often clouds the water, though soft coral growth and invertebrates compensate for the variable visibility.
Swim-throughs and natural limestone archways
Dense fields of soft corals, sea whips, and barrel sponges
Blue-spotted ribbontail rays foraging along the sandy fringe
Sheltered bays suited to training and unhurried dives

Seasonality
Calm seas and settled water arrive during the Gulf of Thailand dry spell; late autumn monsoon rains bring runoff and park closures.
