Dive-site story
Shark Island is an uninhabited granite outcrop situated southeast of Koh Tao, named for its dorsal fin-like profile above the surface. Submerged granite boulders tumble down to sandy bottoms, creating sweeping landscapes covered in vibrant purple soft corals, sea whips, and encrusting sponges. Stronger currents frequently wash the deeper edges, drawing pelagic visitors while shallower sections offer sheltered coral gardens.
Vibrant fields of purple tree soft corals coating deep granite boulders on the eastern side
Frequent encounters with territorial titan triggerfish and banded sea kraits
Dynamic drift diving potential along the deeper boulder corridors
