Dive-site story
Located off the coast of Xiaoliuqiu, this artificial reef consists of several large steel frame structures placed on an open sandy seabed. Over time, the metal lattices have become heavily encrusted with soft corals, hydroids, and sponges. Divers descend through open water to find a concentrated hub of pelagic visitors and schooling reef species hovering around the metal towers.
Schooling longfin batfish that frequently approach divers around the steel framework
Expansive sandy plains adjacent to the structure populated by colonies of garden eels
Green sea turtles resting on the steel girders or cruising by in midwater
Macro subjects including colorful nudibranchs and snapping shrimp clinging to encrusted beams
