Dive-site story
Beach 8th Street, historically nicknamed Almost Paradise by local divers, is a tidal shore dive located along Reynolds Channel near Far Rockaway. The bottom composition consists of silty sand, shell hash, and scattered rubble, with bulkheads and bridge pilings providing artificial structure for marine organisms. Divers primarily visit this location for specialized macro critter hunting, as warm Gulf Stream eddies deliver exotic juveniles to the inlet during late summer and autumn.
