Dive-site story
First Cathedrals is one of Hawaii's premier volcanic cavern dives, located along the southern coast of Lanai. The site centers on a massive, two-story underwater lava tube with a perforated ceiling that filters sunlight down through the water column, creating a dramatic stained-glass effect across the cavern chamber. Divers enter through broad swim-throughs to explore the vaulted interior before navigating out through side passages, lava arches, or the surge-driven shot hole.
