Dive-site story
Veterans Park sits right at the edge of the deep Redondo Submarine Canyon in Santa Monica Bay. Divers enter from the sandy beach stairs and swim across a shallow sandy flat that rapidly tips downward into a steep silt and mud slope. Because the canyon head brings deep ocean water directly against the shore, this site offers unique encounters with pelagic visitors and benthic muck-dwelling critters rarely found on typical coastal reefs.
Steep canyon wall drop-off plunging straight out from the surf zone
Winter squid mating runs attracting massive aggregations of predators
Premier muck and night diving hunting grounds for cryptic macro critters
