Great diving app with a lot of potential
"Since the rather negative reviews here, a lot has changed in the app, which prompted me to write a review.
The app now supports diving up to 40 meters on the Apple Watch, making it a serious alternative to Oceanic+
What I like best is the prettier and more appealing UI compared to the Oceanic app, and in my experience the automatic start of the dive also runs a bit more smoothly. Two features I really like are, first, the haptic feedback as a reminder to check how much air you have left. The app also calculates how much air it estimates is still in the tank. After a few dives, this has already worked really well for me and could be a real alternative to Air Integration. (Of course, still check directly on the gear regularly.)
As for pricing, there are now various options, including subscriptions for just one week or a lifetime option, which could make the app significantly better for frequent divers compared with being forced into a subscription.
I think the price for the lifetime membership is quite high for a casual diver like me (180€), but I am still considering it to support further development and to be able to dive worry-free in the future whenever I want, without having to worry about a subscription.
For divers who go diving 1-2 times a year (like me), the one-week subscription option is also fair, in my opinion (currently €5.99/week, €8.99/month).
What I would like to see in the future is better integration with the Apple Workout app and a few improvements for the iPhone app.
With every logged dive, the first page prompts you to upload photos. For someone who does not want photos in their logbook, it would be nicer to hide this completely or move it further back so you get a better view of the map.
But these are only minor issues, and I am convinced that there will still be a lot happening with the app.
I have already shared a few experiences with the developer via Instagram and can say that the responses were very detailed and helpful. I definitely got the impression that the developer is serious about the app.
Conclusion:
A reliable app with pricing models for both occasional and frequent divers, with some features that are really nice to have. With a free one-week trial, I can only recommend that anyone coming from Oceanic+ give this app a try!"
