Saltstraumen
Located near Bodø, Saltstraumen generates exceptionally powerful tidal currents. Water rushes through this narrow strait with each tidal shift, driving intense nutrient turnover. Divers time descents to catch the brief slack-water window or drift along sheer walls blanketed by cold-water anemones. Tangle kelp anchors the shallows before the rock drops into shadowy canyons where predatory fish and bottom-dwellers shelter in rocky fissures.
